Bronwen Kyffin - Director & Animator

Bronwen Kyffin

I've just returned to sunny Vancouver after spending the spring in Toronto animating on a fantastic new Christmas special that I can't say too much about, except that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for a stopmotion nut and I will keep you posted regarding air dates!

Jibber Jabber

Also, Jibber Jabber, the series I directed 8 episodes for last year
won 4 Leo awards this May (British Columbia's Film
and Television awards) including
Best Animated Program!

About

My adventure in the entertainment industry started in 1991, ushering for the Piggery Theatre in North Hatley, Quebec. It's been non-stop ever since and taken me right across the country. My first film grant came in 1997 just as I was graduating from theatre school, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The film, entitled Bea's First Film was live action mix of actors in heavy make-up and puppets. It was my second film that introduced me to the world of animation. The film, Cecil's Insomnia was a very short stop-motion film (I'm not sure I realized how labour intensive it would be), but I was hooked. This animation thing was quite frankly the best thing since sliced bread.

In 2000 I was given the opportunity to work with Canada's largest stop motion animation house Cuppa Coffee Animation, in Toronto, Ontario. I spent a fantastic 4 years with Cuppa Coffee where I built puppets, animated, animation directed for the series entitled The Wrong Coast and also had the privilege of production managing Cuppa Coffee's very own Christmas special A Very Barry Christmas.

Now I'm all the way out on the west coast in Vancouver, British Columbia, where I am just finishing up directing for a series called Jibber Jabber which will be airing on Canal J in France after Christmas and here in Canada on YTV come spring. Keep an eye out for it!
